Water-based coating for crane production
One of Europe’s leading crane manufacturers had made a strategic decision: they wanted to reduce solvents and minimise VOCs in production without compromising durability, finish or operating time.
They chose the team at Nowocoat Industri as their technology partner, and a close collaboration was established from the outset. Our team worked onsite to understand workflows, corrosion class requirements and previous technical challenges. Based on this insight, we developed a single-component water-based formulation that could be adapted directly to their existing spraying equipment.
The transition was remarkably simple. The customer was able to switch without changing their plant or production routines. There was no downtime. The implementation was really a matter of replacing the product, not the process.
The new coating quickly delivered visible improvements. Corrosion protection was significantly enhanced, while VOC emissions were reduced considerably. The finish was stable and uniform, and the surface fully met the requirements for heavy industrial equipment used in demanding conditions.
At the same time, the water-based solution strengthened the company’s overall environmental profile, both internally and in relation to its customers and partners. Today, the collaboration with us is highlighted as value-creating, with technical dialogue, fast response times and a partner who understands how things should work in practice. The first project has since led to several development processes and a more long-term partnership, where responsible technology and technical operation go hand in hand.
